Break it up people, nothing to see here, No ring.. Break It up... Move along...
Ohhh i can just see it.. Me spinstering along the passage of life.
HAH. I am sure there are plenty that would love to see me get depressed and all pent up with emotions... because yes because I am over 20 and wait for it,.... the shock is going to come,..... you ready? you sitting down?... I'm NOT engaged. (besides for one sweet reader, who e mailed me Mazel Tov wishes, really sweeti, thank you, but no that isn't me, oh and yes SHE is hot.)
Oh how much emphasis we put on a girl status.
Ok take this for example, this site, wont allow you to join there executive ranks if your not married. Now after all this is the internet and anyone can lie and click the I'm married button proudly, so they send you a bunch of questions by email that apparently, if your not married wont know the answers too. So for your amusement, my dear readers I will put them on the site.
1. In what jewish month is the festival of Shavous?
(erm is that the one that we sit in a hut for?)
2. What are 2 common side effects that a woman gets when she has her period?
(shes a bitch)
3. what is the Brocho a jewish woman says for the Mikvah?
(she osna isha, goddamit! )
Firstly my darling Mods at Imamother*, ANYONE and I mean anyone with half a brain can get the answers to these questions, and secondly, really will an unmarried girl not know the answers or at least manage to find them on the big bad web?
One would think that with all the F-ing stigmatizing that is given to unmarried girls, the internet- which is a place that a Zali can choose to be an Aroni and vice versa -would be free of them. But no, once again second class citizens. LOVELY!
Which irks me more I guess is that my friend who is about as naive as my 3 year old nephew is allowed to join up. Oh, did i mention she is 18.
Why?
You know why, cause she had stood under a canopy and worn a white dress. Lovely. Really, I mean, she has a album- no touching pictures- to prove it too. Oh and she knows the answers to the questions apparently.
Wow, these things piss me off. Oh and just by the way, if your desperate to know what they are hiding, they have a section on, oh whats the word they used, ah yes INTIMACY. Ha, the whole thing is laughable really...
* I'm confused (won't be the first time, won't be the last.....) Is it:
I'm a mother?
or
Ima mother?
or
Something else?

I'm glad you are back.
But would you even want to visit a site that does not welcome you? and btw, for the male sector things are much uglier as the segregation between bochurim and yungerleit are way more obvious and frequent ( at least among the chassidim).

sweetie....you really don't wanna go there, i spent a few days on it.....it's crud and i couldn't find a single redeemable feature. It's elitist and snobby, they yell blue murder when someone supposedly says the wrong thing and have missed the point regarding the definition of the words forum and conversation. Not worth the web page it's written on.

Unmarried older girls are stigmatised. That is life.
And we all know that life sucks all to often...

Allright I am not 20 years old anymore and I am not engaged so I should go shoot myself? lol. But seriously speaking why torture yourself with these thoughts? Hashem has a bashert for you in store but you need to be patient. There is a time and place for everything.

I never had an interest in imamother. From what I've heard, it's all garbage anyway.
I'm also an "older single"--even older than you, the shock, the horror! [insert eyes rolling Heavenward] Puh-lease. 20 is still a baby, as far as I'm concerned.
Welcome back! :)

Hey was glad to see this post cuz it irks me too that I can't get onto that website. And yes, I can easily fool them but being the honest person I am I won't. It just makes me so frustrated when I read things on the open forum and have something valuable (in my opinion) to share, and I can't cuz I'm not married. At least let me post on the open forum if not on the intimacy section. Why can't they open it up to all of us mature "older" singles. I'm old- hey I"m all of 22!

i am older than 22... and when people i havent seen for a while see me and ask how many kids they are SHOCKED when i tgell him i am waiting for my besherte... (waiting is not the word.. the question is finding the frume open minded girl that i would like to find...)
the other day i was walking with my nephews and nieces and someone who hasnt seen me a couple of years looks at me and says "mazel tov.. azoy sach kein ayin hore?" i was tempted to answer how would i have kids 7 years old when i was unmarried 2 years earlier... i couldnt be bothered... just told him "yes burich hashem..."
YOU GOTTA LOVEEEE SH

As a single girl you really have no business being on those sites. Furthermore, you shouldn't be on the internet entirely. I don't want to be choshesh beksheyrim but is that what you really are? Do you keep company with chaps not on a shidduch date? I shudder to hear whats left on your answerphone. How agro is it for your poor parents? I will include you in my kavonos in my tehillim group, Im sure the eybeshter will know who I have in mind. Please do tshuva and forget all this net rubbish. Its never too late!

chana reizel, and may I ask what you are doing on the treifa net? I so happen to be on because I work and more offices that want to get anywhere, need to have internet. And yes, I am bored sometimes and my boss allows me to browse. And yes I have a filter, and imamother is not blocked for some reason. Guess its a kosher sight. thanks for praying for me but pray for people that need it..pray that I find my bashert soon rather than non-existant problems.

As to the definition of imamother, it's neither of the ones you mentioned: you'll notice that you don't need to be an ima or a mother to join. Just married, or willing to lie.
In any case, it never occurred to me to think of imamother as elitist or anything... just a special-interest forum. I'm not interested in which bugaboo to buy or why your 3-year-old isn't toilet trained. I guess they're afraid that if they let in singles we'd overtake them with intelligent conversation. You gotta respect that.
But yeah, I wouldn't mind having an equivalent forum for the rest of us. I wouldn't discriminate against marrieds either.
